Alpha Pregnancy Center Design Work

For my final design project while I was at SF State this spring, I opted to help Alpha Pregnancy Center develop a consistent way to communicate with their clients and supporters. Alpha Pregnancy Center helps meet the needs of bay area families by providing for their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. I spent months doing research for this project, and not only did I learn a lot, but my designs were approved by the board and are currently being used. I developed a new identity system, including a logo, typeface selections, and a color palette. Here are some images of the final printed collateral:

I also did some work helping them to promote their big annual fundraiser in September. The event was a huge success, and I'm glad that Alpha will have more resources to help women and families in difficult situations this year.

There are still a million projects that could help Alpha Pregnancy Center accomplish their goals. If you are interested in hearing more about what they do, or the people that they serve, you can visit their website: www.alphapc.org. Thanks.

I Graduated College!

Yeah! I graduated college!!! I earned a B.S. in Visual Communication Design from San Francisco State University. I want to say thank you especially to my parents for always supporting me.I love you guys! Also to anyone who I have worked for in the last couple of years for being super patient and understanding while finished school projects. Thank you!!! It feels really good to be done with school :) It has been a crazy month so far between all of my final projects and all of the weddings. Here are some photos of all of the graduation activities.
Kris and Bourbon.
My parents, Mikey, and Ashley all came up for my graduation. Thanks guys :)
Ellie and Dan are friends from school. We all struggled through some of the same crazy assignments. Dan has also been helping design albums for me the last few weeks.
Mikey and my dad took all of the photos on this post. It felt kinda weird because I'm really used to being behind the camera.

Alexis, my wonderful girlfriend, also was a huge support in helping me graduate. She had to hear me complain about school all the time and hardly ever see me because of all of the work that I always had to get done. Thanks b, I did it!

Here I am with my "dress" on, as my dad kept calling it. The different cords are for graduating with honors, and also for a department honors society that I was elected for. I'm totally an asian like that ;)
We had dinner with a lot of my friends after the graduation. Alexis, who planned everything, also had these awesome cupcakes made for me. My face was printed on the frosting!
We all went to see the new Star Trek movie after. It was really good.
WE all went to breakfast the next day. Here is Kris and Alicia.
We stumbled on a parade that was happening in the Mission district--I think that there is a parade every weekend here in SF. All of the expected craziness was going on for a parade in SF.

Then we all rode bikes in Golden gate park. It's fun riding through the park because you get to see all sorts of stuff that you'd miss if you were in a car.

...and bowling. I guess you could say it was a pretty busy weekend!

Thanks for sticking with me everyone :)

Alpha Pregnancy Center

You might remember seeing some of the photos of a cute baby and diapers that I took a while back for the Alpha Pregnancy Center. I am in my last semester of college finally, and as part of my final class I will be working on designing a consistent way for them to communicate with their donors. I was at the Alpha Pregnancy Center for a few hours the other day, and I was able to get a feel for the interaction that they have with the women that come in. One of the people who came in was a young girl, she was maybe 17ish, for a pregnancy test. They go into a private room for the test and consultations, so I am unaware of how that went. I felt bad for her though because she came with some friends (one girl and one guy), who were waiting in the car for her. They both came in a few times to check to see how much longer that she might be getting her consultation. I was moved by how much pressure this girl must have been under. I could already see that her friends did not understand the weight of a decision like having an abortion or having a child. These are big life altering decisions that should never be rushed. Parents, friends, and others can be very opinionated about decisions like these that ultimately are not theirs to make. I am glad that there are places like Alpha Pregnancy Center where people can get free counseling about pregnancy. I can't imagine how difficult and complex some of these situations must be.
Here are a couple of the photos that I took for Chastidy to use for their newsletter. This is a pile of loot that came in from a recent diaper drive that they did.

Back to school

As if I wasn't busy enough, the fall semester at SFSU started today. I have a more mellow load than I have had in the past, but it is still going to be busy.
